When I Ring4Peace it is my prayer that anyone who is listening might receive the peace given to me when I heard that first anonymous bell.
The first public bell leading the way of Ring4Peace comes from the home of Ascension Church in Vallejo, CA. Ascension Church is an Episcopal church. They have a history rich in tradition and a future focused on “raising up saints” in today’s culture. Blending the needs of today with their voice of the past Episcopalians draw from their Book of Common Prayer.
Prayer #59 from that book speaks of the internal peace and quiet confidence I felt after hearing the bell that inspired Ring4Peace. So, today when I rang the bell at 4:00pm, I included this prayer as I sent forth my intentions that everyone, everywhere might know a moment of peace.
59.For Quiet Confidence
O God of peace, who hast taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be our strength; By the might of thy Spirit lift us, we pray thee, to thy presence, where we may be still and know that thou art God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
