When peace comes
It can be a surprise
For in the midst of turmoil
Its calm assuredness
Rests unwavering.
When peace comes
It touches us inside-
Body, mind and spirit- all at once;
Disregarding all worry, pain and mystery.
Long after its affect has passed
It lingers, shaping
An unclimbed mountain of faith,
A hope filled memory,
A faded, guiding light.
We yearn for peace to return.
When peace comes
And goes
Eluding our grasp
Leaving behind its lessons
We are astonished to learn-
Peace resides within us
And it waits for us
To accept its presence.
