In the midst of grim news of horrific mass killings, elevated hatred and endless wars Ring4Peace founder Rita Crane says, “Peace is a process that begins in the heart.”

Troubling news bombards emotions with worry, fear and anger. But, peace is won every moment a troubled heart is unburdened. When a quiet, still heart knows peace then compassion can begin to radiate out into the community.

Since 1867 Ascension Episcopal Church has been sharing God’s peace in Vallejo, CA. Their mission statement opens with the phrase “A congregation of diverse believers”. Parish members are multi-cultural and their building is home to the Solano Pride Library. Today, amidst turmoil, The Rev. Bayani D. Rico leads Ascension in widening their commitment to peace. Ascension Church has dedicated its bell to ring in partnership with the Ring4Peace mission: “Every day. Everywhere. For Everyone. Around the world. A community bell rings in every time zone at 4:00pm.”

Through the ringing of public bells, time is provided for the listener to pause. In that stillness peace prevails and permeates into the community. Countless acts of peace come together as communities around the world share in a mutual and continuous moment of peace.

A public dedication for Ring4Peace (www.ring4peace.org) is being held at Ascension Episcopal Church (2420 Tuolumne Street, Vallejo, CA www.ascensionvallejo.org) Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 2-5pm. This event begins a yearlong celebration for the parish’s 150th anniversary.

Civic, government and faith leaders have been invited to join with neighbors for food, fellowship, music and a moment of peace. Delight in the good news as Ascension Episcopal Church dedicates their bell to Ring4Peace in Vallejo.
